Australians undergo about 30,000 liposuction treatments every year.
That’s according to the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery (ACCS). They’ve reported a rise in demand for cosmetic procedures across the board in the country.
It’s clear why so many people want to go down this route. No matter how much you look after your body, you probably have a few fatty bulges or cellulite somewhere. It doesn’t matter how much you diet and exercise.
These pockets of fat just won’t go away.
That leads to a lot of people turning to other fat reduction techniques.
And therein lies the problem. Traditional liposuction is a surgical procedure that requires you to go under the knife to solve the problem. That means you’re facing all of the risks of surgery and all of the pain that comes with it.
That’s without mentioning the scars, too.
There has to be another way.
And a recent breakthrough from a team of Korean scientists shows that there’s a non-surgical liposuction alternative in town.
And best of all, it gets amazing results.
The Fat Reduction Discovery That’s Up to 100% Effective
In 2013, Jiehoon Kim, Hwa Jung Ryu, and Dai Hyun Kim teamed up to tackle a problem.
They’d seen the trend towards cosmetic surgery developing in the country. In fact, data produced in 2012 showed that 20% of all South Korean women had undertaken some form of cosmetic procedure.
Liposuction was among the most popular. We’ve already established the issues that come with this procedure. The team decided to look into an emerging non-surgical technique called cryolipolysis, also known as fat freezing, to see if it gave any marked benefits.
To help them with their study, the group enlisted patients to Dr. Kim’s Skin & Laser Clinic. All told, 18 people volunteered their bodies to test this interesting new treatment.
To ensure the efficacy of their data, the group put a few controls in place. All subjects needed to be above the age of 20 and have at least a moderate degree of obesity. Furthermore, no participant could have undergone any form of fat reduction treatment in the tested areas. This would have compromised the team’s results.
The team decided to look at the effects of the non-surgical treatment on the areas where most people want to drop weight. These include the dreaded love handles, but also included the belly, buttocks and inner thighs.
They also created a scale to simplify their results. This scale ranged from 1 to 5, with 1 showing >75% reduction and 5 showing <10% reduction.
For three months, the team had their participants undergo the new non-surgical treatment. Each received 60 minutes of treatment per application with a cryolipolysis device on a chosen treatment area.
Unfortunately, three people dropped out along the way. The researchers were a little worried that this may be due to the treatment. But their fears weren’t founded. Each left the test due to personal reasons that prevented them from committing to it.
The other 15 people completed their treatment and the team examined the results.
What they found was truly remarkable.
Their objective assessment led to an average result of 1.7 on their objective scale. That meant that all patients saw anywhere between 50% and 100% fat reduction in their treated areas.
Better yet, a survey sent out three months after the study found that none had experienced any long-term ill effects due to the treatment.
This is exciting news for people who have liposuction in mind. This non-invasive liposuction alternative proves just as effective without the side effects.
The Korean team proved that fat freezing works. Every one of their patients saw the fat drop off as a result of this non-surgical treatment.
But how does the process work?
It all comes down to how fat cells react when they’re frozen.
Think of your fat cells as living things. They need to have certain conditions in order to thrive. Of course, that also means that you can create conditions that cause them to die off.
That’s what cryolipolysis does. It involves applying a special vacuumed applicator to a specific part of your body. This applicator contains cooling panels that freeze the fat cells in your body.
This causes the fat cells to crystallise and become extremely brittle. Over the course of the procedure, this brittleness causes the cells to break apart into smaller fragments.
Here’s the most important part.
This is a permanent treatment. Once a fat cell gets broken apart, it can’t reform. It’s gone forever. As long as you maintain a proper diet and make the effort to stay in shape, it’s never coming back.
This is where the treatment differs from a lot of other weight loss techniques. For example, when you exercise, you’re not permanently getting rid of fat cells. They’re just shrinking. That’s why you end up with collections of fatty tissues in the first place, even when living a healthy lifestyle.
You might wonder what effects the treatment has on the surrounding tissues.
The key with cryolipolysis is that it’s a targeted treatment. It attacks your body’s fat cells without affecting the tissues that surround them.
The fat freezing treatment takes place over the course of 12 weeks and the effects vary depending on the device used. The most effective device can destroy up to 30% of your body’s fat cells per treatment.
Here’s the most important part.
It’s completely non-invasive. You don’t have to go under the knife as you would with liposuction. Instead, this technique helps you to lose weight using a non-surgical liposuction alternative.
The most obvious benefit to this treatment is that you don’t have to undergo surgery. That means you’re not dealing with needles, knives, or anaesthetics. That also means that you’re not going to come away from the treatment with scars on your body. Plus, it’s safe to use for the 1 in 5,000 people who have an allergy to anaesthetics.
Best of all, it’s completely pain free. The Korean researchers we mentioned above made sure to check on this in their follow-up. Not one of their patients experienced any long-term pain as a result of the treatment.
You can’t say the same about liposuction.
And these aren’t the only benefits either. Here’s a sample of other reasons why cryolipolysis is a great alternative to liposuction.
When you come out of a surgery, you’re naturally feeling a little groggy. The anaesthetic takes its toll. And eventually, the pain that comes with the procedure starts to kick in.
You’re not going to end up doing much for the rest of the day. At worst, you could spend a few days, or even weeks, recuperating.
With cryolipolysis, that’s not the case. You’re good to go as soon as the treatment ends. That means you can drive away on the same day and carry on with whatever plans you had.
You won’t have to spend huge amounts of time in the treatment room due to the procedure.
Each treatment takes about 60 minutes or less. That means you can slot it into your lunch break and head back to work when it’s over.
Plus, you’ll see the results after just one session.
Fat freezing alone will achieve great results.
But many practitioners also combine cryolipolysis with other forms of non-invasive fat reduction.
For example, many combine this treatment with fat cavitation. This technique uses low-frequency ultrasound to apply pressure to your fat cells. This pressure causes the cell to liquefy and start travelling through the body. Once it hits the liver, it’s converted to energy that your body can use.
When combined with cryolipolysis, this technique creates a fat-busting machine. Both techniques permanently destroy fat cells to ensure you walk away from your treatment feeling and looking slimmer.
No matter how hard you work at it, you may have fatty deposits in some areas of your body. You can shrink them, but they never go away permanently.
That can be so frustrating, especially for people who work hard on their appearance.
For years, liposuction has been the solution for thousands of people. But that procedure comes with all sorts of issues, not the least of which is the risk involved in the surgery.
Now, there’s a better way.
The team of Korean scientists proved something that the wider scientific community is now beginning to accept.
Cryolipolysis is a safer, pain-free, and effective alternative to liposuction. And when combined with fat cavitation, it’s extremely effective.
You don’t have to endure all of the pain and discomfort of surgery. You don’t have to deal with complications or spend weeks recovering from the procedure.
With non-surgical liposuction alternatives, you can destroy fat cells and go about your day.
